Routes

A route is the ordered list of stops a vehicle drives for a client during a shift — for example the morning school run. Each route has a client, a shift and (optionally) a vehicle. Passengers are assigned to routes and their stops, and the vehicle's device is told about every stop so arrivals can be detected.

Routes List

The list shows how many routes, saved stops and shifts you have. Stops opens the Stops page, Shifts the Shifts page, and New route the route builder.

Searching and Filtering

  • Search finds a route by its name, client, shift, vehicle, device or driver. The list updates as you type.
  • Client shows one client's routes. (If your account is limited to one client, you only ever see that client's routes.)
  • Shift shows the routes of one shift.
  • Your search and filters stay in place when you open a route and come back, and when you delete one.

Columns

ColumnShows
IDThe route's number (hidden by default)
Route · clientThe route name and its client
ShiftShift name and times
DaysThe weekdays the shift runs, highlighted
VehicleVehicle name and its sub-label (plate, device name…)
DriverThe vehicle's driver and phone
StopsNumber of stops and the route's driving distance
SyncWhether the stops are set up on the vehicle's device (see below)

Columns lets you hide or show columns; your choice is remembered. The distance appears once the route has been saved or previewed with the new routes page.

Export downloads all routes matching your search and filters to Excel, or prints them.

Route Preview

Click a route to open its preview beside the list:

  • A small map with the stops and the driving path
  • Stops, Distance and Passengers
  • The stops in order with the planned arrival time at each one (from the shift's start time plus driving time)

From the preview: Edit route, Duplicate, Print map, and ⋯ for Create geofence, Retry sync and Delete. Double-click a row to edit straight away, or right-click it for the same actions.

Building a Route

New route, Edit route and Duplicate open the route builder: the stops on the left, the map on the right.

Route Details

The card at the top shows the client, shift (with its days), vehicle and driver, and the active dates. Click Edit to change them:

  • Name (required): suggested from the shift and client until you type your own. You can also edit it in the title bar.
  • Client (required)
  • Shift (required): pick one, or create a new shift right there — enter a name, start and end time and the days, then Create shift and use it.
  • Vehicle (optional): only vehicles with a device can be chosen.
  • Start date and End date (optional): outside these dates the route is skipped on the Calendar, even on its shift days. Leave them empty for no limit.

Adding Stops

There are several ways to add stops, and you can mix them:

  • Type in the search box at the bottom of the list. Saved stops matching the name or address appear first; pick one with the arrow keys and Enter (or click it). To add a stop at an address that isn't saved yet, choose Search addresses for "…", then pick the address — it becomes a new stop.
  • Click the map. Switch the map to Click to add stops, then click where the stop should be. Fill in the name (taken from the address), the arrival radius and an optional description, and choose where it goes: between the two nearest stops or at the end. Drag the pin to adjust the spot.
  • Click a saved stop on the map (the grey dots — turn them on with Saved stops). Add it at the end, or Insert it where it fits best.
  • Click the route line to insert a new stop at that point.
  • Add many (see below).

Press / to jump to the search box. To insert stops in the middle of the route, open a stop's ⋯ menu and choose Add a stop after this one: the search box then shows After stop N, and each stop you add goes after the previous one. Click × on that label (or press Esc) to go back to adding at the end.

New stops are created and set up as geofences on the vehicle when you save the route.

Arranging Stops

  • Drag a stop by its handle to move it.
  • The ⋯ menu on each stop: Show on map, Edit stop (new stops only), Add a stop after this one, Move up / down / to the start / to the end, Remove.
  • Reverse flips the whole order — handy for the afternoon run of a morning route.
  • ⋯ → Copy from route adds another route's stops; Clear all removes every stop.

Between the stops you see the driving distance and time, and each stop shows its planned arrival time (from the shift start) and how many passengers board there. The map draws the driving path; the totals (stops, distance, drive time, passengers) are in the corner.

Adding Many Stops

Add many opens a window with four ways to add a batch:

  • Paste a list: one stop per line — a saved stop's name, an address, or coordinates (51.1328, 71.4319)
  • Import file: a CSV or Excel file, either with a header row naming the columns (name, address, lat, lng) or one stop per row in the first column
  • Copy from another route: that route's stops, in its order
  • Pick saved stops: tick them in a list

Each line is matched and marked:

  • Saved stop — found by its exact name or address
  • New · geocoded or New · coordinates — a new stop will be created
  • Choose — several possible matches; pick the right one
  • Not found or Lookup failed — skip it, or Retry failed lookups

Choose where the stops go (At the start or After stop N) and the radius for new stops, then Add N stops. Skip unresolved adds only the lines that were matched. Up to 200 lines are used at a time.

Map Tools

The map has the same controls as the Tracking page: search an address, measure distance, my location, map style, zoom — plus Fit route and Print map. Move map and Click to add stops switch what a click on the map does.

Drafts

While you work, the route is saved as a draft in your browser. If you leave without saving and come back, you're offered Restore or Discard. If someone else changed the route in the meantime, the message warns you that restoring would undo their changes. Cancel throws your changes away (after asking); the back arrow keeps the draft.

Saving

Create route or Save changes first shows a review:

  • What changed: stops added, removed and moved, and changed details
  • Notify passengers and guardians (on by default): passengers of removed stops get a personal notice; everyone on the route hears about added stops, the new order, and a new vehicle or shift. Untick it to save quietly.
  • Sync geofences to the vehicle: what will be set up or removed on its device
  • Also update the return route: shown when another route of the same client has exactly these stops in reverse. Your stop changes are applied to it too (reversed); its own name, shift, vehicle and dates stay as they are.
  • Create geofence along the route: after saving, opens a new line geofence along the planned path (if you can create geofences)

Then Save route / Create route.

Duplicating a Route

Duplicate opens the builder with everything from the original — stops, client, shift, vehicle, dates — and the name "… (copy)". Change what you need and save it as a new route.

Creating a Geofence from a Route

You can turn a route into a line Geofence along its path from the first stop to the last; vehicles linked to it raise an exit event when they leave the route.

  1. Open the route's preview and choose ⋯ → Create geofence (or right-click the row).
  2. The Geofences page opens with the name and the line filled in.
  3. Optionally set the Line Corridor Width — how far from the line still counts as on the route.
  4. Click Create Geofence.

Notes:

  • The line is the planned driving path through the stops, not the streets vehicles actually take. If drivers use other streets, create the geofence from a recorded trip in Replay instead.
  • The route needs at least two stops.
  • The geofence is a copy: later changes to the route don't update it.

Deleting a Route

Choose Delete from the preview's ⋯ menu, the row's ⋯ menu or a right-click on the row, and confirm. The route's stops are taken off its vehicle's device, except stops the vehicle still drives on another route. Passenger assignments to the route are removed.

Sync Status

Each route's stops are set up on its vehicle's device so stop arrivals can be detected. The Sync column shows:

  • Synced (green): done
  • Syncing (blue): in progress
  • Failed · retry (red): click it (or ⋯ → Retry sync) to try again

The status updates live. When you change a route's vehicle, its stops move from the old vehicle to the new one; stops the old vehicle still needs for its other routes stay on it.

On a Phone

  • Routes are shown as cards with the client, shift, days, vehicle and stop count. Quick filters at the top show one client's routes; the filter button chooses a client and shift.
  • Tap a route to open its preview full screen, with Edit route and Duplicate at the bottom and the ⋯ menu at the top (print, geofence, retry sync, delete).
  • The builder has List and Map views. Add stop opens a search screen; the map button switches to Tap to add. Add many, Reverse, Copy from route and Clear all are above the list, and the details card at the top opens the route details.
  • Save shows the same review as on a computer.
