Maps and location

Choose the map

Every map in NexaRide (the live map, the stop picker and the booking map) has a layers button. Tap it to open Which map?:

  • Yandex – detailed city map. This is the default.
  • 2GIS – buildings and entrances.
  • Google – satellite and traffic. Under Google view choose Map, Satellite or Both (satellite with street names).

Your choice is remembered for every map in the app, until you change it.

Traffic

With Google maps you can turn on Show traffic to see where roads are busy. Traffic and satellite views come with Google maps only; they are not available on Yandex or 2GIS.

How NexaRide uses your location

NexaRide asks for your location only while you use the app ("While using the app"). It is used to:

  • find the bus stops closest to you when you choose a pickup stop
  • center the map on where you are
  • preselect your city when you browse companies and vehicles to book

NexaRide doesn't track you in the background, and your location isn't shown to the school, the driver or other users.

If you didn't allow location, you can still choose stops and book: pick the route and stop yourself, and choose the city in the filters. To allow it later: open your phone's settings for NexaRide, find Location and choose While using the app.

Common questions

Which map is best? Use the one you know. Yandex is detailed for cities, 2GIS shows building entrances, Google offers satellite and traffic.

Why don't I see traffic? Traffic is only available with Google maps. Open the layers button, choose Google and turn on Show traffic.

Does the map choice change the bus route? No. It only changes how the map looks. The bus position and route are the same on every map.
