Getting started with NexaRide
NexaRide is the passenger app of NexaBus. It shows the school or work bus live on a map, tells you when it is close to your stop, and lets you book a bus or van for a one-time trip.
NexaRide is for passengers and their families: parents, guardians, employees and anyone who looks after a rider. Transport companies and schools use the NexaBus website instead (see "For transport companies").
Words used in the app
- Place – the school, kindergarten, university, hospital, company or other organisation whose buses you use. You join a place with its code.
- Rider – a person who rides the bus: your child, yourself, or someone you look after. One account can have several riders.
- Pickup stop – the stop on a bus route where the rider gets on.
- Ride time – the scheduled time of a route (for example "Morning · 07:15 – 08:30") on its days of the week. The live map is open around the ride time.
Before you start
- Create an account or sign in (see "Signing in and your account").
- Get your place's code from the school office or your employer. It starts with C-. If you don't have it, you can also find the place by city.
The three setup steps
After you create an account, the app shows Let's get the bus on your phone with three steps. It takes about 2 minutes.
- Join your school or work – enter the place code (C-…) or tap Find by city. This connects you to the place's buses and routes.
- Add who rides – type the rider's name and email, and add a photo if you like. If someone in your family already has this rider in their account, they can give you the rider code (P-…); enter it, and once they approve you, you follow the same rider. If the school gave you an invite code (I-…), enter it the same way instead (see "Riders").
- Choose the pickup stop – tap the stop on the map where the rider gets on the bus.
Each step shows Start. Finished steps are crossed out, and the bar shows how many of the 3 are done. You can tap Skip and come back later: until the steps are done, Home shows the same checklist.
After setup
- A rider added by name and email must be confirmed by the place before you can follow their bus. Until then the rider shows Waiting for confirmation (see "Riders").
- A rider you follow with a rider code (P-…) is already confirmed. If a family member added the rider first, they have to approve you before it appears.
- When a ride is on, Home shows the bus live. Outside ride times it shows when the next ride is.
The four tabs
- Home – your riders and their buses, ride status, and the setup checklist.
- Book – book a bus, minibus or van for a trip, an event or a transfer.
- Alerts – messages about trips, stops, route changes and bookings.
- Me – your profile, riders, places, settings, help and log out.
Only need a ride once?
You don't need to join a place to book a vehicle. Open the Book tab and send a booking. See "Booking a ride".
Common questions
Do I need a code to use the app? To follow a school or work bus, yes: you need the place code (C-…), or you can find the place by city. To book a vehicle, no code is needed.
Does the rider need the app? No. Only the parent, guardian or the rider themselves needs the app. Bus cameras and bus tags work without the rider having a phone.
How long does setup take? About 2 minutes, plus the time the place needs to confirm a rider added by name and email.
