Geofences Report

The Geofences Report shows when your vehicles entered and left your Geofences over a period: how long they stayed inside, how far they drove inside, and how that time split into parking, idling and moving. It also adds up each vehicle's visits per geofence, and what each vehicle did outside all geofences.

Running the Report

  1. Open Reports and pick Geofences (in the Safety & zones section of the report list). Click the report name at the top to switch to another report at any time. Your vehicles and period are kept.
  2. Vehicles: pick one or more vehicles.
  3. Groups (optional): ticking a group adds every vehicle in it, subgroups included.
  4. Geofences: keep All geofences, or tick the ones you want.
  5. Period: pick a preset or choose dates on the calendar. A report covers up to 31 days at a time.
  6. Click Show report.

Visits are calculated vehicle by vehicle (Calculating geofence visits · 4 of 9 vehicles), and the results fill in as each one is done. A vehicle that can't be calculated is marked couldn't load, with Retry.

The report has three tabs: Detailed, Summary by Geozones and Summary Outside Geozones (on a phone: Visits, By geofence and Outside).

Totals Cards

  • Visits — with the most visited geofence
  • Time inside and Distance inside
  • Parking inside and Moving inside
  • Time outside, Distance outside and Trips outside

While vehicles are still being calculated, the cards say so far — still calculating. Click the pin on a card to keep it first.

Detailed Tab

One row per visit, grouped by vehicle:

  • Geozone — the geofence entered
  • Entering the Geofence / Exit from the Geofence — if the vehicle was still inside at the end of the period, the row is marked Still inside and has no exit time
  • Time Spent in the Zone
  • Distance in Geofenced Area
  • Transit (Time) / Transit (Mileage) — time and distance actually moving during the visit
  • Parking Time in the Zone — stopped for 5 minutes or longer
  • Idle/Stop Time in the Zone — stopped for less than 5 minutes
  • Movement Time in the Zone
  • Geofence Boundary Crossing Point — click Show address to look it up

When the report covers more than one geofence, chips above the list show each geofence with its count; click one to show only that geofence. The Excel export follows the chosen geofence.

Find vehicle or geofence filters the list, and Show N more shows the rest of a long list.

Summary by Geozones Tab

One row per vehicle and geofence, adding up every visit in the period:

  • Number of Visits
  • Time Spent in the Zone and Distance in Geofenced Area
  • Parking Time, Movement Time and Idle/Stop Time in the Zone

The geofence chips work the same way as on the Detailed tab.

Summary Outside Geozones Tab

One row per vehicle, for everything that happened outside the geofences in the report:

  • Travel Time Outside Zones and Mileage Outside Zones
  • Parking Time Outside Zones and Time of Movement Outside Zones
  • Number of Trips Outside the Zones

Geofence on the Map

On the Detailed and Summary by Geozones tabs, click the pin on a row to see the geofence in the panel beside the list. On the Detailed tab the pin also marks where the vehicle crossed into the geofence. Click another row to move to its geofence.

Columns

Each tab has its own Columns choice. Vehicle is always shown. Your choice is saved separately for desktop and phone.

On a Phone

  • Rows appear as cards; tap one to see its geofence on the map, then Back to the report.
  • The ⋯ menu holds Export to Excel, Print and Schedule this report.

Export and Print

  • Export to Excel downloads one file with three sheets: Detailed, Summary by Geozones and Summary Outside Geozones.
  • Print opens a printable version of the Detailed table.

Both are available once every vehicle has been calculated.

Scheduling

Click Schedule (on a phone, ⋯ → Schedule this report) to have this report emailed automatically. A panel opens over the report, filled in with the vehicles, groups and geofences on screen. Choose how often it repeats, the send time, start and end dates and the recipients, then click Create schedule. You stay on the report.

Each run emails one Excel file with the same three sheets. In a schedule you can also choose the zone type, to include route stops as well as geofences. See Scheduled Reports for all the options.

Use Cases

  • Zone compliance: confirm vehicles stopped at required points or stayed out of restricted areas
  • Dwell time: see how long vehicles spend at each place, and how much of it was parking versus idling
  • Route checks: compare visits and time outside geofences across vehicles to spot detours or missed stops
  • Boundary checks: see on the map exactly where a vehicle crossed into a geofence

No Data Found

If the report comes back empty, it shows No data found with a Try the previous day button. Check that:

  • At least one vehicle or group is selected
  • The vehicles were active during the period
  • The chosen geofences are ones the vehicles actually visited
  • The vehicles have a working GPS device
