Replay
Replay lets you watch a vehicle drive its route again on the map, point by point, like a video. Next to the map you see its speed, where it stopped, and everything the device reported at that moment. Use it to review routes, look into incidents, or check that a vehicle kept to its route.
Running a Replay
- Open Reports and pick Replay. Click the report name at the top to switch to another report at any time. Your vehicle and period are kept.
- Vehicle: pick one vehicle.
- Period: pick a preset or choose dates on the calendar, with start and end times if you need them. A replay covers up to 31 days at a time.
- Click Show replay.
The route loads one day at a time and the map draws as days arrive (Loading day 2 of 5 · 8,140 positions so far). Stop keeps what has loaded and Load the rest carries on. A day that fails can be loaded again with Retry. A replay stops at 150,000 points; choose a shorter period to see the rest.
Replay also opens straight from other pages — the Tracking page, the Timeline, Chart, Fuel and Summary reports — with the vehicle and period already set. The page address follows the replay, so you can reload it or share the link.
Above the map you see the route's distance, top speed, number of points and number of stops.
The Map
- The route is colored by speed (see the legend). The part not played yet is faded.
- Start and End flags mark where the route begins and ends, with their times.
- Round markers show the stops — times the vehicle stood still for two minutes or more.
- Arrows show the direction of travel when you zoom in.
- The vehicle icon shows where it is now, colored by its state.
- Click any point on the route, or a stop, to jump there. A card shows the vehicle's time, speed and address; See all details opens everything the device sent.
- Follow the vehicle (on by default) keeps the vehicle in view while it plays. Moving the map by hand turns it off. Fit whole route shows the whole route again.
Playback
- Play / Pause
- Back 10 points / Forward 10 points
- Speed: 1×, 2×, 4× or 8×. At 1× the vehicle moves one point every half second.
- The bar under the controls is the replay's timeline: moving and stopped stretches are shown in color and stops are marked, so you can skip straight to them. Drag the knob or click the bar to jump. With the bar selected, the arrow keys step one point and Home / End jump to the start or end.
- The current point shows its day, time, point N / total and speed.
Details at This Moment
The Details at this moment panel beside the map updates as the replay plays:
- Movement — speed, course (with compass direction), state and ignition, odometer
- Place — address, coordinates, altitude
- Vehicle & device — driver, fuel (in liters when the fuel sensor is calibrated), power and battery voltage, satellites, device
Click All values the device sent for the full list. Close the panel to give the map more room; open it again from the button at the top. From the panel:
- Open in Chart opens the Chart Report for the same vehicle and period.
- Timeline opens the Timeline Report for the same vehicle and period.
On a Phone
- The map takes the top of the screen, with the playback controls in a sheet underneath.
- Tap Details at this moment to open the details under the controls (the map gets smaller); Hide details closes them. The speed choice stays available either way.
- The ⋯ menu holds Print map and Geofence from this route.
Printing
Print map prints the map as it is, with the start and end flags, the vehicle and the period.
Creating a Geofence from the Route
If a vehicle drives the same fixed route every day, you can turn one recorded run into a line Geofence that follows it, instead of drawing it by hand. Vehicles linked to the geofence then trigger enter and exit events when they leave or rejoin the route.
- Run a replay for the vehicle, with the period covering exactly one run of the route.
- Click Geofence from this route.
- The Geofences page opens with the Add Geofence form filled in:
- Name: the vehicle name and the replay period (you can change it)
- Map: the route drawn as a line, which you can adjust like any other shape
- Optionally set the Line Corridor Width in the Details tab — how far a vehicle can be from the line and still count as on the route.
- Click Create Geofence.
The route is simplified automatically, and time spent parked at the start and end of the period is left out, so the line keeps the shape of the road without storing every point.
Notes:
- The geofence is made from the vehicle and period of the replay on screen, not from filters you changed afterwards.
- If the vehicle didn't move during the period, no geofence is created and a message explains why.
- If the period covers the route more than once (a round trip, or two runs), every pass ends up in the line. Narrow the period to one run for a clean corridor.
- The button is only available if you have permission to create geofences.
Use Cases
- Route checks: confirm a vehicle drove the right route
- Route geofences: turn a good run into a geofence to watch for detours
- Incident review: see exactly where a vehicle was at a given time
- Training: show drivers the best route, or review the one they took
- Disputes: show where a vehicle was at a specific time
Tips
- Short periods load fastest.
- Use 4× or 8× to go through a long route quickly, then pause where it matters.
- Use the stops on the bar to jump between the places the vehicle stood still.
- Turn off Follow the vehicle to keep the map still while it plays.
