Positions Report
The Positions Report shows every point the GPS device of one vehicle reported in a period: the time, coordinates, speed and address, and any sensor data the device sends (odometer, fuel level, ignition, RPM and so on). Where Trips and Stops summarize movement, Positions gives you the raw data, point by point, with the route on the map.
Use it for detailed checks, device diagnostics, or to see exactly where a vehicle was at a given second.
Running the Report
- Open Reports and pick Positions (in the Activity section of the report list). Click the report name at the top to switch to another report at any time. Your vehicle and period are kept.
- Vehicle: pick one vehicle. Positions works with one vehicle at a time because it returns a lot of data.
- Geofence (optional): pick one of your geofences to keep only the positions recorded inside it. The geofence is also drawn on the route map. Click Clear to go back to all positions.
- Period: pick a preset or choose dates on the calendar. A report covers up to 31 days at a time.
- Click Show report.
Loading Day by Day
Positions load one day at a time, and each day appears as soon as it arrives (Loading day 4 of 14 · 38,512 positions so far).
- Click Stop to keep what has loaded so far; Load the rest carries on later.
- Loading stops at 150,000 positions to keep the page responsive. The note tells you how many days were loaded; choose a shorter period to see the rest.
- If a day can't be loaded, it's marked couldn't load and the note offers Retry.
Totals Cards
- Positions — how many, and on how many days there were positions
- Max speed — with the time it was reached
- Avg moving speed — the average speed while moving, and the share of positions recorded while moving
- Distance — when the device reports it
While days are still loading, the cards say so far — still loading. Click the pin on a card to keep it first.
Positions by Day
Positions are listed under each day. A day shows the first 100 positions; click Show N more for the next ones. Expand all / Collapse all opens or closes every day. Days with nothing are marked no positions.
The standard columns are:
- Fix Time — when the GPS position was recorded
- Latitude / Longitude
- Speed (km/h)
- Address — click Show address to look it up (addresses come from OpenStreetMap, in your interface language)
More columns appear once a day with that data has loaded, depending on what the device sends — for example:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Course | Direction of travel (0–360°) |
| Altitude | Height above sea level (m) |
| Accuracy | GPS accuracy estimate (m) |
| Odometer | Total distance from the device (km) |
| Engine Hours | Total engine-on time |
| Fuel | Fuel level (L) |
| Ignition | Ignition on or off |
| Motion | Whether the device detects movement |
| Battery Level | Internal battery level |
New sensor columns start hidden. Turn them on under Columns.
Route on the Map
Click Show route to open the route for the whole period beside the list (Hide route closes it). It's colored by speed.
- Click a position in the list to mark it on the route.
- Click the route to find the matching position in the list.
- Press Play on the map to watch the route play back.
Columns
Click Columns to choose what you see. Fix Time is always shown. Your choice is saved separately for desktop and phone.
On a Phone
- Positions appear as cards under each day.
- Tap a position to see it on the route, full screen. Previous and Next move through the positions, and Back to positions returns to the list.
- The ⋯ menu holds Export to Excel, Print and Schedule this report.
Export and Print
- Export to Excel downloads the loaded positions with the visible columns, formatted (speeds in km/h, distances in km, times in your format).
- Print opens a printable version.
Both are available once loading has finished or been stopped.
Scheduling
Click Schedule (on a phone, ⋯ → Schedule this report) to have this report emailed automatically. A panel opens over the report, filled in with the vehicle on screen. Choose how often it repeats, the send time, start and end dates and the recipients, then click Create schedule. You stay on the report. The button is available if you have permission to create schedules.
Each run emails one Excel file with the positions and a route map. See Scheduled Reports for all the options.
Use Cases
- Detailed route check: every recorded point of a journey
- Device diagnostics: see whether a device reports at the expected interval
- Sensor monitoring: follow fuel, RPM or ignition over time
- Geofence checks: pick a geofence to see only the time the vehicle spent inside it
- Compliance: confirm where a vehicle was at a specific time
No Data Found
If the report comes back empty, it shows No data found with a Try the previous day button. Check that:
- The vehicle and its GPS device were active during the period
- With a geofence picked, the vehicle actually entered it during the period
- The GPS device is set up and reporting
If a geofence was deleted after you last used it, the report says so — pick another one, or save it again on the Geofences page.
