Timeline Report
The Timeline Report shows a visual day-by-day breakdown of vehicle activity. Each day is displayed as a horizontal bar divided into colored segments representing different vehicle states throughout the day.
Generating a Timeline
- Select Vehicle: Choose a vehicle from the dropdown
- Set Date Range: Define the time period to analyze
- Click Show to generate the timeline
Color Legend
The timeline uses four colors to represent vehicle states:
- Green (Moving): The vehicle is in motion
- Yellow (Idle): The vehicle is stationary but the engine is running
- Red (Stopped): The engine is off and the vehicle is parked
- Gray (No Data): No data available for this period
How States Are Detected
The system uses device attributes when available, with fallback to speed-based detection:
- Movement detection: Uses the device's instant movement sensor if available, otherwise falls back to the motion attribute, and finally to speed (above 3 km/h = moving)
- Idle detection: When the vehicle is not moving but the ignition is reported as on, the period is classified as idle (yellow)
- Stopped detection: Gaps in position data indicate the engine is off and the device has stopped reporting, shown as stopped (red)
Not all devices report the same attributes. If a device does not provide ignition data, idle periods cannot be distinguished from stopped periods, and non-moving time will appear as stopped (red).
Interacting with the Chart
- Hover: See the exact time range and duration for any segment
- X-axis Zoom: Use the slider at the bottom to zoom into specific hours of the day
- Y-axis Scroll: Use the right-side slider to scroll through days when viewing long date ranges
- Pan: Drag to move along the timeline

No Data Found
If "No data found" appears:
- Check that the vehicle was active during the selected dates
- Verify the vehicle's GPS device was online and reporting during the period
