Push Notifications

Stay informed about your passengers' trips with real-time push notifications.

Notifications Screen

Tap the bell icon in the top-right of the header to open your notification history. A badge on the icon shows unread notification count. All recent notifications are listed in reverse-chronological order.

Enabling Notifications

First Time Setup

  1. When you first open NexaRide, you'll be asked to allow notifications
  2. Tap Allow to enable push notifications
  3. If you denied access, go to your device settings to re-enable them:
    • iOS: Settings → NexaRide → Notifications → Allow Notifications
    • Android: Settings → Apps → NexaRide → Notifications → Enable

Managing Preferences

  1. Tap the hamburger menu icon (top-left of the header) to open the side menu
  2. Tap SettingsNotifications
  3. Toggle the notification types you want to receive

Notification Types

Stop Arrival Email

In addition to push notifications, each passenger can receive an email when the vehicle arrives at their assigned stop. This is configured per passenger when adding or editing them — toggle Stop Arrival Notifications on or off in the passenger form.

Push Notification Types

Trip Started

Get notified when the vehicle begins the route.

Example: "Trip started: Morning route to Central Office"

Stop Arrival

Get notified when the vehicle arrives at your passenger's stop.

Example: "Vehicle arrived at Main Street — Passenger: John"

Trip Completed

Know when the trip has ended.

Example: "Trip completed: Afternoon shuttle from Airport"

Route Changes

Stay informed about schedule or route updates from your organization.

Example: "Route updated: Departure time changed to 8:15 AM"

Master Toggle

The Push Notifications toggle in the Notifications settings controls all push notifications at once:

  • ON: You receive the specific notification types you've enabled
  • OFF: No push notifications are sent, regardless of individual type settings

Troubleshooting

Not Receiving Notifications?

  1. Check device permissions:
    • iOS: Settings → NexaRide → Notifications → Allow Notifications
    • Android: Settings → Apps → NexaRide → Notifications → Enable
  2. Check app settings:
    • Open the side menu → Settings → Notifications
    • Verify the master push toggle is on
    • Check that individual notification types are enabled
  3. Check device settings:
    • Turn off Do Not Disturb mode
    • Android: Disable battery optimization for NexaRide (Settings → Battery → Battery Optimization)
  4. Update the app:
    • Install the latest version from the App Store or Google Play

Too Many Notifications?

  • Disable individual notification types you don't need in Settings → Notifications
  • Use the master toggle to temporarily silence all push notifications
  • Stop Arrival: Always enable — know exactly when to be ready at the stop
  • Trip Started: Enable to start monitoring from the moment the vehicle departs
  • Trip Completed: Enable for peace of mind that the journey finished
  • Route Changes: Enable to stay informed of any schedule updates
