Geofences Report

The Geofences Report shows when selected vehicles crossed into and out of your geozones over a selected time period — how long they spent inside, how far they traveled while inside, and how that time split between parking, idling, and moving. It also summarizes activity that happened entirely outside any zone.

A "geozone" here can come from either your Geofences or your Stops — both are drawn areas on the map, and this report treats them the same way when checking whether a vehicle was inside or outside. Use the Zone Type filter to narrow to just one kind, or Select geozones to narrow to specific ones.

Generating a Report

  1. Select Vehicles: Choose one or more vehicles from the dropdown
  2. Select Groups (Optional): Choose vehicle groups to include all vehicles in those groups
  3. Zone Type: Choose All, Geofences, or Stops to narrow which geozones are considered
  4. Select Geozones (Optional): Narrow further to specific geozones — the list updates to match the chosen Zone Type
  5. Set Date Range: Select a predefined range (Today, Yesterday, This Week) or set custom dates
  6. Click Show to generate the report

The report is organized into three tabs: Detailed, Summary by Geozones, and Summary Outside Geozones.

Detailed Tab

One row per zone visit, showing:

  • Vehicle: The vehicle
  • Geozone: Which zone was entered — use the dropdown in the column header to filter to a single zone
  • Entering the Geofence / Exit from the Geofence: When the vehicle entered and left the zone. If the vehicle was still inside the zone at the end of the report period, the row is marked Still inside and has no exit time
  • Time Spent in the Zone: Total duration of the visit (hh:mm:ss)
  • Distance in Geofenced Area: Distance traveled while inside the zone
  • Transit (Time) / Transit (Mileage): Time and distance while actually moving during the visit — the same figures as Movement Time and Distance in Geofenced Area
  • Parking Time in the Zone: Time stopped for 5 minutes or longer while inside
  • Idle/Stop Time in the Zone: Time stopped for less than 5 minutes while inside
  • Movement Time in the Zone: Time actually moving while inside
  • Geofence Boundary Crossing Point: Click Show address to reverse-geocode where the vehicle crossed into the zone

Click a row to open a map above the table showing the zone's shape and the crossing point. Click the same row again, or the on the map, to close it.

Summary by Geozones Tab

One row per vehicle/geozone combination, totaling every visit during the period:

  • Vehicle and Geozone
  • Number of Visits: How many separate times the vehicle entered the zone
  • Time Spent in the Zone and Distance in Geofenced Area: Totals across all visits
  • Parking Time in the Zone / Movement Time in the Zone / Idle/Stop Time in the Zone: Totals across all visits

Use the dropdown in the Geozone column header to filter to a single zone. Click a row to open a map of that zone, same as the Detailed tab.

Summary Outside Geozones Tab

One row per vehicle, covering everything that happened outside any considered geozone:

  • Travel Time Outside Zones and Mileage Outside Zones
  • Parking Time Outside Zones and Time of Movement Outside Zones
  • Number of Trips Outside the Zones

This tab has no map, since it isn't anchored to a single zone.

Exporting Reports

Use the dropdown menu next to the Show button:

  • Export: Download a single Excel file with one sheet per tab — Detailed, Summary by Geozones, and Summary Outside Geozones
  • Print: Open a print-friendly version of the Detailed tab's table

Scheduling

Use the Schedule this report control next to the export button to have this report run automatically and emailed to chosen recipients — on desktop it's a calendar-icon button, on mobile/tablet it's inside a dropdown menu. It opens the Schedules page pre-filled with the vehicles, groups, zone type, geozones, and date range currently selected. Each scheduled run emails a single Excel file with the same three sheets as the Export button. See Scheduled Reports for the full setup options (recurrence, recipients, etc.).

Use Cases

  • Zone Compliance: Confirm vehicles actually stopped at required checkpoints, service areas, or restricted zones
  • Dwell Time Analysis: See how long vehicles spend at each location versus how much of that time was actual loading/unloading versus idling
  • Route Auditing: Compare visit counts and time-outside-zones across vehicles to spot detours or missed stops
  • Boundary Investigation: Use the crossing point map to confirm exactly where and when a vehicle entered a restricted or monitored area

No Data Found

If the report shows no data, check that:

  • You've selected at least one vehicle or group
  • The date range includes dates when vehicles were active
  • The Zone Type or selected geozones aren't narrowed to zones the vehicles never visited
  • The selected vehicles have GPS devices properly configured
