Driver Safety & Eco-Driving

Overview

Driver Safety & Eco-Driving brings together vehicle activity, harsh-driving violations, and duty-hours compliance to help you evaluate driving behavior — and attribute it to the actual driver, not just the vehicle.

Key Features

Eco-Score

For vehicles with an eco-score sensor configured, NexaBus shows the device's own reported score, averaged over any period you choose, with a plain-language rating (Excellent, Good, Not Good, Bad, Very Bad).

Harsh-Driving Violations

Every hard acceleration, hard braking, hard cornering, high-RPM event, overspeed, and idling period is logged with its vehicle, time, location, and — when a key-swipe was recorded — the specific driver.

Driver Attribution

Violations and driving sessions are grouped by driver, not just vehicle, using the tracker's RFID/iButton key reader when available, falling back to the vehicle's assigned driver otherwise. This means you can review everything one driver did across every vehicle they used in a period, not just one vehicle's history.

Duty-Hours Compliance

Automatic checks flag when a driver crosses standard duty/driving-hour limits: continuous driving without a break, daily on-duty or driving-time caps, weekly and two-week on-duty limits, and minimum rest periods. Vehicles driven without an actual driver badge ever being read are flagged too, so gaps in attribution don't go unnoticed.

Alerts & Reporting

Seatbelt-not-used, headlights-not-used, night driving, and duty-hours violations can all trigger Notification rules. The full report exports to Excel and can be scheduled to run automatically.

Benefits

  • Driver Coaching: Identify which drivers — not just which vehicles — need attention
  • Fleet Safety Scoring: Compare eco-scores across the fleet to prioritize coaching
  • Compliance: Catch duty-hours violations before they become a regulatory issue
  • Incident Investigation: Cross-check violations against driving periods to confirm who was behind the wheel

Why NexaBus Driver Safety

Vehicles don't drive themselves — drivers do. By attributing safety data to the person behind the wheel wherever possible, NexaBus turns raw telematics events into actionable driver coaching and accountability.
